Summary
Description
We're launching a 64-bit version in Sage 50 Accounts v30. Most users will find the transition easy, and we'll highlight the benefits of using the 64-bit version.
During installation, the software will default to the 64-bit version, but a 32-bit version will still be available if needed.
What does 64-bit mean?
Sage 50 Accounts was previously a 32-bit (or x86) application. A 64-bit (x64) computer can handle more data than several 32-bit computers, resulting in faster performance. Using 64-bit architecture is more modern and also improves security.
What will be different?
Using a native 64-bit application lets Sage 50 Accounts use more available memory, so it performs better. There are fewer memory-related issues, and it improves compatibility with other 64-bit programs.
NOTE: Sage 50 Accounts 64-bit is compatible with 64-bit installations of Microsoft Office.
Are there any risks?
As we're transitioning to a 64-bit default version, we'll no longer offer automatic updates for 32-bit installations of Sage 50 Accounts. You can still install any available updates manually.
TIP: You can mix 64-bit and 32-bit installations on different computers in a network, and they'll all work together.
Do I need to do anything differently?
No. When you install Sage 50 Accounts v30 64-bit, the installation process is the same as in previous versions. Your company data convert to the new version automatically when you first log in.
The Sage 50 Accounts software works the same as before, with no major interface changes. Check out the New Release Hub to find out more about what's new in this release.
How can I check if my computer is 64-bit?
