Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

With Remote Data Access, you and your colleagues can access your live Sage 50 Accounts data from remote locations using the Internet. If you're not sure which you would use or you are unsure if your company data is currently being shared for remote access it's easy to check.

How to check if your data can be accessed remotely

Status bar

After opening the company check the Remote Data Access indicator on the status bar at the bottom. If it says Online then this means Remote Data Access is set up and your data can be accessed remotely.

NOTE: This is also how you can tell if Remote Data Access is Online or Offline.

About page

  1. On the menu bar click Help then click About.
  2. Under Features Enabled check that Remote Data Access shows as Yes.

If it does say Yes, this means Remote Data Access is set up and your data can be accessed remotely.

To check further details look under the Remote Data Access Information section in the middle column. This tells you your Dataset ID, which helps you confirm that different sites are looking at the same company data.

NOTE: In Sage 50 Accounts v27 and below, this is also where you can check if you're at a main or remote site.

Company selection window

If your company is set up for Remote Data Access, you'll have a Remote Data Access column and it will say either Online or Offline alongside your company. If it is blank then it is not on Remote Data Access.

NOTE: In Sage 50 Accounts v27 and below, this is also where you can check if you're at a main or remote site.
