Summary
Resolution
The following sections explain how Sage Accounts uses the Company file.
Company file location
Find the Company file in the appropriate folder within the Accounts settings directory:
| Version | Default path |
| Sage 50 Accounts v33 or above | C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\Vxx Where 20xx is the year of your software. For example, 2026 is v32. |
| Sage 50 Accounts v32 or below | C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\20xx Where Vxx is the year of your software. For example, v33. |
The Company file is a text file with no extension, created during the initial setup of Sage Accounts. The information in the Company file depends upon the installation type.
Network Installations
On a network installation, the Company file on the server uses the same format as a standalone installation. The Company file on a client computer holds stores the network path to the data on the server.
Multi-company installations
In a multi-company setup, each company has its own Accdata to hold the data files. The Company file includes a separate line for each company. Sage Accounts displays all available companies in the Company Selection window when it opens. When you create a new company, the Company file updates automatically with the new data path.
