Export Making Tax Digital for Income Tax categories
Description

You can export nominal codes and Income Tax categories in two formats. Then, import them into another company using a chart of accounts with the same codes and categories.

The export creates the Income Tax Category list as a .csv file. This file has two columns for the nominal code number and the category number.

Resolution

To export

  1. Go to Nominal codes then Assign Income Tax categories.
  2. Select the nominal codes you need to export.

TIP:

To select more than one category, use the Windows method. Hold the Ctrl key + select each item.

  1. Press the Export button at the top of the window.
  2. Select the relevant option below then press Export:
  • Export the full contents of the grid. This creates an Excel file with the N/C number, Name, Area, and the Income tax category
  • Export the Nominal Code and Income tax category for re-import purposes. This creates a .csv file you can open in Notepad to check the two columns before you import

If you have a blank Income Tax category, that field remains blank on the exported file.

Next steps

If required, you can import the Income Tax categories into another company.

TIP:

To reset a category to be blank in the Assign Income Tax categories window, change the Category column to 0.
