When you install and use Sage 50 Payroll, the program creates files when you first set up and log in.

Uninstalling the program doesn't remove these files, and when they're on your computer you can't install a new copy.

Uninstall

Your first step is to ensure you've uninstalled any old versions. If you've already done this, continue to remove the background files below.

Remove the background files

If you try to install a new version now, an error message appears. To avoid this, you need to delete the 'payroll.ini' files.
