Before you start

If you haven't already, you need to Set up your bank feed.

NOTE: You can't create a bank feeds rule for foreign bank accounts.

Set up a Bank Feeds rule

  1. Go to Bank feeds then in the window, select Download.
  2. Match the bank feed transactions with the relevant Sage transactions.
  3. Go to the Confirmed tab, and select the transaction you want to create a rule for.
  4. Select the Create rule link.

  5. In Give your rule a name, enter a new name for the rule.

Create rule window with Rule name field highlighted.
  6. Set one or more conditions to identify future transactions to automate:
  • The Reference shows against the transactions from your bank
  • If the Amount can vary, don't include the amount as a condition
TIP: Tick the relevant conditions from the list to use them.

Condition(s) window with a list of Fields to select.

  1. In the Transaction details section, specify the information you want the rule to post on the transaction.
  2. In the Auto posting section, choose whether to review transactions before posting or to post them automatically without approval.
NOTE: You can change this option later if required. The bank feed show the Rule approvals tab when you need to approve them. If using auto posting, transactions will appear automatically in your next bank reconciliation.

You've now set up a Bank feeds rule.

NOTE: The new rules only apply to feeds downloaded after they're created, they aren't retrospective.
