To qualify for shared parental leave (ShPL)

  • Share in the care of the child with their partner, the child’s other parent or joint adopter
  • Your employee must have worked for you continuously for at least 26 weeks by the end of the 15th week before the due date
  • Or in the case of adoption by the matched date
  • Still be in your employ when they take the leave

To qualify for shared parental pay (ShPP)

To be eligible for shared parental pay, the employee must be eligible for one of the following:

  • Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) or leave
  • Statutory Adoption Pay (SAP) or leave
  • Maternity Allowance (MA)
