Delete the opening balanceYou must delete any opening balances before you can delete the bank account.
You can enter the opening balance as an opening balance or a bank transfer. - From Settings, find Opening Balances and select Bank.
- Select Delete next to the opening balance you want to delete.
- Select Save.
Delete a reconciled opening balance NOTE: Don't forget, your opening balance will have the same date as your Accounts Start Date. Remember to change the date to find the opening balance transaction. Find your Accounts Start Date in the Settings, Business Settings, then Accounting Dates and VAT. - From Banking, open the relevant bank account.
- Select the Activity tab.
- Change From date to your Accounts Start Date and select Search.
- From the Activity tab, select the tick box to the left of the transactions you want to delete.
A toolbar now appears above the list.
- From the toolbar, select the Delete icon.
Delete a bank transferDelete the bank transfer from both bank accounts and the bank balances will adjust accordingly. - From Banking, open the account used for the transfer.
Select the check box next to the bank transfer you want to delete and choose the delete button.
Reconciled bank transfersYou can't delete a bank transfer that you have reconciled in either bank account. If you have reconciled the bank transfer, make the bank account Inactive instead.
Delete other transactionsIf you've entered other transactions in error for this bank account, delete them next. - From Banking, select the relevant bank account.
- From the Activity tab, select the tick box to the left of the transactions you want to delete.
A toolbar now appears above the list.
- From the toolbar, select the Delete icon.
Delete the bank account- From Banking, select the Delete link under the account name.
- When prompted, click OK to confirm.
This removes the bank account but not the associated ledger account.
Make a bank account inactiveWhen you can't delete bank transactions, make the bank account inactive instead. This will hide the bank account and prevent you from posting further transactions in it. - From Banking, open the required bank account.
- Under Account Status, select the Active link.
- Set the status to Inactive.
- Save your changes.
The bank account will show as inactive on the banking list.
