Edit, delete or reverse a journal
Description

If you can't edit or delete a journal, create a reverse journal with opposite values. This cancels the incorrect entry.

If you just want to change the ledger account on the journal, use the Corrections option.

Read the article Correct transactions.

What you need to know

  • You must have full user access permissions
  • You can't edit a journal that has:
    • Been included on a VAT return
    • Included on a bank reconciliation or marked as cleared
    • Been migrated from a previous accounting system

NOTE: If you can't edit the journal, you'll need to reverse the journal instead.

If the journal is dated before your lockdown date, change the Year End Lockdown date in Accounting Dates & VAT settings first.
