Switching to Sage 50 Accounts from TASBooks

You can migrate your TASBooks data in six key stages:

  • Run reports in TASBooks to help you switch
  • Export your TASBooks records
  • Install Sage 50 Accounts
  • Import your records into Sage 50 Accounts
  • Check the chart of accounts and nominal records
  • Enter your opening balances

Preparing to switch

Before you start moving your data to Accounting, you need to make sure you’ve entered all transactions up to the date you want to switch.

So that you can set up your company in Sage 50 Accounts and enter your opening balances, you should print the following reports in TASBooks:


Export your records

If you have a lot of customers, suppliers, products and services in TASBooks you might want to export them so you can save time when setting up Sage 50 Accounts. 


Set up Sage 50 Accounts

Install Sage 50 Accounts

  1. Close all software, then click the link below: [BCB:29:Accounts - latest full download direct:ECB]
  2. This will download automatically to your downloads folder, or click Save.
  3. To begin the installation, locate and double-click SageAccounts_28.0.226.0.exe
    To view your Downloads folder, press Ctrl on your keyboard.
  4. If prompted, click Yes to allow this app to make changes to your device.
  5. Select the I accept the terms of the Licence Agreement check box and click Next.
  6. Click the Standard (recommended) installation type and click Yes, begin installation.
  7. Once complete, the software checks for any updates, if prompted click Install then click Yes, begin installation.
  8. If prompted to restart your computer, make sure you have any work saved, then click Restart now.
  9. If not prompted to restart, to complete the install, click Close, then click Close.
  10. Open Sage 50 Accounts.
  11. In the Add a Company window click Create.
  12. Click Continue then enter your software Serial number, Activation key and Account number.
    You can find these on your order confirmation email.
  13. Click Next, then to confirm your licence, click OK and click OK.
  14. To create your new company, enter your details, clicking Next on each window.
  15. Once you have entered all your details, in the Summary window click Create.
  16. Enter your manager Password you created during the process then click OK.

Chart of Accounts and nominal records

As you're unable to migrate your existing chart of accounts structure on TASBooks, you may need to make some minor adjustments to the way your accounts are presented and located on your management reports.

Import your records

You're now ready to import your customers, suppliers and product records. When you create an import file to import data in to your software, we recommend you use our Excel templates. To get these templates:

  1. In Sage 50 Accounts click Help, then click About
  2. In the Program Details section, click the Program Directory link.
  3. Double-click the Import Templates folder.
