Description | EIR is a great way to access your Sage 50 Accounts data in Microsoft Excel. You can run most reports directly into Excel, manipulate the data from Sage using Excel functions and refresh your data, keeping it up to date at the click of a button. Let's set this up now. TIP: If you're using Sage 50 Accounts v27 or above and want to use EIR functions in your formulas, please download and install the Sage 50 Accounts EIR Functions Add-in. |
Resolution | For help with EIR, select the relevant options below:
Set up and use EIR >Check your data directoryClick Help and click About then under Program Details make a note of the Data Directory. Ensure that the Sage options are available- Open Excel then open your workbook or a blank workbook.
- Check that the Sage 50 Accounts tab appears. If it does, continue to the next section. If it doesn't, continue to step 3.
- Click File then click Options.
- Click Add-Ins then click the Manage drop-down and click COM Add-ins then click Go.
- Select any Sage add-ins then click OK.
If any of the Sage options don't appear as expected, you must follow the Troubleshooting section of this guide. Connect to your company's data- Click the Sage tab and click Sage Applications drop-down and click Sage 50 Accounts.
- Click the Recent Companies drop-down and click Add Company.
- If your company's listed, select it then click OK. If your company isn't listed click Browse and browse to the company data directory you noted earlier, and select setup.dta then click Open.
NOTE: If the drop down box to select a company just flashes, select Always show ribbon, by pressing Ctrl + F1.
- Enter your logon name and password then click OK.
TIP: You can use any logon name that has access to EIR and isn't already logged on to Sage Accounts.
Run a report- Click the Sage tab and click the Sage reports drop-down.
- Click the report you wish to run, then click Insert.
The report is added to the active cell in your current sheet. Troubleshooting > To resolve any connection issues and error messages, you can reinstall EIR by following the below steps. - Close all open software then download the following file for your version of Sage Accounts. Use our handy guide to Check your version number.
NOTE: To reinstall EIR with Sage 50 Accounts v27 or above, you should reinstall your software.
- If prompted to save the file, note the file name, ExcelIntReportingInstaller.msi then click Save.
TIP: Depending on your web browser, the file may automatically save to your Downloads folder. To view your Downloads folder, press Ctrl + J on your keyboard. - Double-click ExcelIntReportingInstaller.msi.
TIP: The installer runs through a progress bar, then disappears.
If your issue isn't resolved by these steps, uninstall Excel, then uninstall Sage and then reinstall Excel and Sage and try again. If the issue persists after this please contact technical support. NOTE: If you receive the error 'Could not connect to data service' whilst using EIR, this is linked to Firewall settings. Add an existing report to EIR >You can amend any report in Sage 50 Accounts and use it in EIR. - In Sage Accounts, browse to and click the report you want to save to EIR.
- Click Edit.
- Click the report headings then press Delete. Repeat for any other fields you don't need.
- Click Edit then click Select All.
- On the Formatting toolbar, click the Align Left button, then to clear the selection, click any blank area.
- To align each report column, click the column heading, press and hold the Shift key and click the other objects in the column.
- On the menu bar click Format, point to Alignment, then click Left.
- To align any additional columns, repeat steps 3 and 4.
- In Report Designer, on the menu bar click Report, then click Report Properties.
- Enter a new report name and description, then click OK.
- On the menu bar click File, click Save As,
- Browse to the following directory;
'C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\[year]\Company.000\Reports\Excel'
- Enter a new file name for your report, then click Save.
- On the menu bar click File, then click Exit.
Report locations >When you upgrade from a previous version of Sage 50 Accounts, copy your EIR reports to the correct directory. v29 and aboveThe EIR reports are held in the reports folder in the Data Directory of each company, for example C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\[year]\Company.000\REPORTS\Excel NOTE: Replace the [year] entry with your program year, e.g. 2023. - In Sage 50 Accounts, click Help, then click About.
- Note the Data Directory.
- Press and hold down the Windows key and press E.
- Browse to the original Excel reports folder.
- Right-click the required reports, then click Copy.
- Browse to the new Excel reports folder.
- Right-click, then click Paste.
NOTE: If you have custom reports for EIR and multiple companies, these reports need to be pasted into each excel folder on the data directory for all companies. v28 and belowThe EIR reports are held in the Settings Directory: C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\[year]\Company.000\Reports\Excel. NOTE: Replace the [year] entry with your program year, e.g. 2022. - In Sage 50 Accounts, click Help, then click About.
- Note the Settings Directory.
- Press and hold down the Windows key and press E.
- Browse to the original Excel reports folder.
- Right-click the required reports, then click Copy.
- Browse to the new Excel reports folder.
- Right-click, then click Paste.
