Check the accounts data path
NOTE: If you use Sage 50 Accounts v27.1 with Remote Data Access (RDA), follow the steps below on a main site computer. Check if you're using RDA.
- Open Sage 50 Accounts, go to Help, then About.
- Note of the Data Directory in the Program Details section.
| If the data path starts with C: | This is the computer that holds your data and has an installation of Sage 50 Accounts. |
| If the data path doesn't start with C: | Your data is likely held on another computer on your network. Follow the Check which computer holds your data section. |
Check which computer holds your data
▼ If your Data Directory starts with a letter If your data path starts with a mapped drive letter, for example S:, use the command prompt to check which computer holds the data.
- Click the Windows Start menu then enter cmd in Search.
- Right-click cmd.exe then select Run as administrator.
- In the command window, type net use then press Enter.
- In the Local column, locate the drive letter used in your data path.
- Under Remote, note the computer name that appears after the \\, for example, \\computer1.
- To close the window, type exit then press Enter.
Locate the computer
After identifying which computer holds your data, locate it. If unsure which computer this is, check the name on each computer.
- Click the Windows Start menu then enter cmd in Search.
- Right-click cmd.exe then click Run as administrator.
- In the command window, type hostname then press Enter.
- Note the computer name that appears.
- To close the window, type exit then press Enter.
Check if the located computer has Sage 50 Accounts installed
- Log in to the computer that holds your data.
- Press the Windows key + R, type appwiz.cpl then press Enter.
- In the list of programs, check for Sage 50 Accounts vXX. XX is your software version, for example v31.
- If listed, the full Sage 50 Accounts software is installed
- If not listed, the server holds the data only
