ERROR: 'Error 1723: There is a problem with this Windows Installer package'
Description

When installing your Sage software, the following message can appear: 'Error 1723: There is a problem with this Windows installer package'.

Cause

This can happen if there's an issue with the installer package.

Resolution

Check system requirements

Ensure your computer meets the system requirements, especially that the processor is compatible and not using ARM-based devices


Temp folder permissions

The error can occur if you don't have the required access permissions to the Temp folder.

To fix this:

  1. Open Windows Explorer by holding down the Windows key  and press E.
  2. Enter C:\Users and press Enter.
  3. Double-click the username you're logged into Windows with.
  4. Double-click the AppData folder.
  5. Double-click to open the Local folder.
  6. Locate the Temp folder, then right-click and select Properties.
  7. In the properties window, select the Security tab.
  8. Select Edit to modify your user permissions.
  9. Select your username, then tick all boxes in the Allow column.
  10. Select OK then OK again, to close the properties window.

If you're still not able to install the software after completing the above steps, continue to the Reregister MSIEXEC section.


Reregister MSIEXEC

  1. Press and hold down the Windows key and press R.
  2. Type CMD then select OK.
  3. Type MSIEXEC/UNREGISTER then press Enter.
  4. Type MSIEXEC/REGSERVER then press Enter.
  5. Type Exit and press Enter.
  6. Install the software again.
