Resolution | SQL Server Express is free software available from the Microsoft website. This articles uses SQL Server Express 2016 in the screenshots and steps below. If you're using an alternative version, you may find slight differences in some screens to those shown below. - Run the installer file downloaded from the Microsoft website.
- Click Basic.
- Click Next, then click Accept.
- Click Install.
- Click Install SSMS.
- Click Install, then click Restart.
When the installation has finished, you will then need to download and install SQL Server Management Studio by selecting the Install SSMS button on the screen below. This will open the Microsoft website in your browser with a link to download the installer for SQL Server Management Studio. Once the installation has completed, you must restart the PC before you can use Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio. Clicking Close will not restart your PC automatically. Click the Restart button and when the PC has restarted, continue to the next step. Before you can connect Sage 50 Manufacturing to the SQL Server installation, Mixed Mode Authentication and the system administrator (sa) account need to be enabled. Enable Mixed Mode Authentication- Open SQL Server Management Studio from the Start menu.
- Right-click on the name of the server in Object Explorer > Properties.
- Select Security.
- Select SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode > OK.
- Right-click on the name of the server in Object Explorer > Restart.
Enable the System Administrator (sa) account- In Object Explorer > expand Security > expand Logins > right-click sa > click Properties.
- On the General page, you might have to create and confirm a password for the login.
- Select the Status page > in the Login section, click Enabled > OK.
Install the Backward Compatibility ComponentsTo allow full functionality for certain non-essential functions to work (including backup and restore), we strongly recommend that the SQL Backward Compatibility Components are installed on all Sage 50 Manufacturing PCs. Please refer to Sage KB article which explains how to complete the installation. You can now install Sage 50 Manufacturing. For further details, please refer to Sage KB article. |
