NOTE: If you have made further changes to your document you must save them before closing Sage Report Designer. For further information about how to save the amended document, please refer to the section To save changes to your document later in this article. - File > Exit > No.
You have now amended the default general options on your report or layout. The next time you use Sage Report Designer the new defaults are applied. Measurement | From the Measurement drop-down list choose whether you want the numeric measurements in Sage Report Designer to be measured in metric measurement, Millimetres, or imperial measurement, Inches, or Point which is 1/72 of an Inch, or Document which is 1/300 of an Inch. A change in setting automatically converts all existing measurements in Sage Report Designer. This affects the following areas: - Page Setup margins.
- Section Heights.
- Grid Size within Tools Options.
- Any measurements in the Properties pane.
| Snap To Mode | Choose from the following Sage Report Designer modes to suit your needs: - SnapToLines - Variables align to the nearest object column or row as they move across the document.
- SnapToGrid - Objects align to the nearest grid setting as specified in the Grid Size.
NOTE: By default SnapToLines is enabled. | Grid Size | The grid size shows the distance that you require between the horizontal and vertical grid positions. These values may be increased or decreased by overwriting the current value, or using the up and down spin buttons. The larger the values the more each object moves with each click of the arrow keys.
| Show Grid (only for SnapToGrid mode) | To show the grid while in SnapToGrid mode, select this check box.
| Options Reset Settings - Report Designer v1.3 and below | This reverts all customisable menu options in Sage Report Designer, back to the default settings. This is only reset once Sage Report Designer has been closed and reopened. TIP: To reset back to the default settings in Report Designer v1.4, open the View menu and choose Reset Default View. | Use Element Tooltips | To view a pop-up window showing the properties of an object, select this check box.
| Use Advanced Conditional Formatting | When applying Conditional Formatting to an item, using advanced Conditional Formatting allows more complex conditions to be created, using the Expression Editor. To use the advanced method, select this check box. NOTE: Basic Conditional Formatting uses a filter window to create the condition and a separate properties tab to set the formatting. | Keep selected Toolbox Item active | To retain the selected option within the Toolbox pane until you select another option, select this check box. If this check box is not selected, once you have added the Toolbox item to the report, for example a box, the setting reverts back to Pointer.
| Use Active Complete | To automatically add titles or totals for variables when adding them to your document, select this check box.
| Sort Column List | To automatically sort the variable contents of each table within Sage Report Designer alphabetically, select this check box.
| Prompt to Change Styles | To be given the choice to update all objects of the same style when making a style change, select this check box. If you do not select this check box the style is automatically updated when an object is amended and all other objects of the same style are automatically changed. | Use Tabbed Drill Down - Sage 50 Accounts 2010 and Sage Instant Accounts v16 and above | To open drill down reports in a new tab of the current window, select this check box. To open drill down reports in a new window, clear this check box. | NOTE: Within the Scheme tab, you can amend the background colour scheme of Sage Report Designer. Save changes to your document If you have made any changes to the document in Sage Report Designer in addition to the general option changes, you must save your changes. - Report menu > Report Properties > enter a new name and description for the document > OK.
Report Designer v1.3 and below - Report Explorer pane > select the document name > Properties pane > Name > enter your preferred description for the document > press Enter. TIP: You can check your Report Designer version in Help > About > Application > File Version. - File menu > Save As > choose the required location > File name > enter a new file name > Save.
- File > Exit.
You have now saved your amended document. TIP: If you have any difficulty finding a recently saved document, you can open it from the Report Designer Recent files list and save it to the required location. To open a recently viewed report, from the main program, open the Tools menu, choose Report Designer then from the Recent files list, click your required report.
