Symbols in the absence diary
Description

When an employee's absent from work you can record details of their absence in your software, including the type of absence it is.

To make it easy to identify an absence on the employee absence diary, each absence you enter appears as a different symbol.

Useful information

Capitalisation

Any lower case entries are for periods that you haven't paid yet. Once you update records for a process date on or after the date of the absence, they become upper case.

Once they're upper case, this indicates you've already paid that absence.

Half-day absences

Your software includes the option to log half-day absences. When you do this, they appear on the diary as a box that is half shaded.

For a morning absence, the top left of the box is shaded. For an afternoon absence, the bottom right of the box is shaded.

Custom absences

You can set up custom absences for any absences that the default options don't cover.

When you book absences on the diary, they appear as the number of the absence.

EXAMPLE:

You set up custom absence number one as Training. When you enter this absence to the diary, its diary symbol is 1.
