Use the 'Credit invoice' option to generate credit notes for existing invoices. You can generate credit notes for both updated and non-updated invoices.

Credit the invoice
Go to Invoices andcredits, select an invoice to credit, then select the Credit invoice option.
Amend the credit note as required, then press Save.
If you’ve updated the invoice to the ledgers, the following message appears: 'Do you want to update this credit note and allocate it to Invoice xx?'
To allocate the credit note to the invoice, press Yes. The following message appears: 'Credit Note xx (Transaction No xx) has been updated and allocated to Invoice yy (Transaction No yy)'.
Press OK then Close the document.
What happens in the software
The credit note appears in the 'Invoices and credits' list
The software allocates the invoice and credit transactions, if the invoice is outstanding and is posted to the ledgers
When you update a product credit note to the ledgers, the software posts a Goods Returned (GR) transaction. This moves the stock back in
If you update the credit to the ledgers, the values appear in your customer and nominal accounts
