Set up automatic updates

  1. In Sage 50 Payroll click Tools, then Internet Options.
  2. Select the following:
    • Automatic - Check and download Sage software updates and automatically install them when I exit [Recommended]
  3. Click OK.

Download and install automatic software updates

Your software automatically checks for updates every seven days, however, if required, you can manually check for any updates. To do this, on the main menu click Help then click Check For Updates.

An automatic update can be optional or mandatory. Typically, a software update is first released as an optional update which you can choose to install later if required. After this, an update may become mandatory, which you must complete.

When you open your software, if an update is available the Sage Software Updates window appears:

  1. Click Install.

     

     NOTE: If your software hasn't downloaded the update yet, it now downloads.
  2. When the update downloads, the installation begins automatically. When you're ready, click
  3. The installer checks for an installation of Payroll to upgrade and 

     NOTE: If you're not certain of the path to your software, right click the desktop icon for Sage 50 Payroll and click Open file location. This is the path to your installation that you need to upgrade.

  4. If the path is correct, click Yes and the installation begins.
    • If it's not correct, click No then browse to the correct path. Double click payroll.exe and your installation begins
  5. Once the update has installed, wait until Sage Software Updates confirms the update is complete.
  6. You can then close Sage Software Updates.

You've now completed your software update.
