Automatic updates is a function of your software that makes it easy to keep your software up to date. Find out below how to enable this check, and how to check for updates manually.

1. In Sage 50 Payroll click Tools, then Internet Options.
2. Select the following:
   • Automatic - Check and download Sage software updates and automatically install them when I exit [Recommended]
3. Click OK.

Download and install automatic software updates

Your software automatically checks for updates every seven days, however, you can also check for updates manually. To do this, select Help then Check For Updates.

An automatic update can be optional or mandatory. Typically, when we first release a software update it's an optional update, which you can choose to install later if required. After this, we typically make the update mandatory, which you must complete.

When you open your software and an update is available, the Sage Software Updates window appears:

1. Select Install.
2. When the update downloads, the installation begins automatically.
3. To confirm you accept the software licence terms, select Accept Licence.
4. The installer detects the current installation path to upgrade. Check this is correct.
   

   If you're not certain of the path to your software, right-click the desktop icon for Sage 50 Payroll and click Open file location. This folder that opens is the path to your installation.

   • If the path is correct, select Yes and the installation begins
   • If it's not correct, select No then browse to the correct path. Double click payroll.exe and your installation begins
5. Wait until Sage Software Updates confirms the update is complete.
6. Close Sage Software Updates.

You've now completed your software update.
