Stop the Data Service or lock Remote Data Access
Description

There may be occasions where you need to make manual changes to your Sage 50 Accounts data files.

Before you make changes, ensure everyone is logged out of Sage 50 Accounts and you should also stop the RDA Service, or lock Remote Data Access if you use it.

Before you start

Before following the steps below, you need to check whether you're using RDA.
  1. Log in to your company, then go to Help, then About.
  2. In the Remote Data Access section, check the Dataset ID.

If this displays an ID you're using RDA, if it's blank you're not using RDA.


I use Sage 50 Accounts with Remote Data Access enabled

Before you can make any changes to your data files, to protect the integrity of your data you must lock Remote Data Access to prevent anyone accessing the data. 

▼ Steps for v33 and above

To do this:

  1. Log all users out of Sage 50 Accounts.
    To see who's currently logged in, go to Settings, select User Management, then Active Sessions.
  2. From the main site log into Sage 50 Accounts using the manager logon.
  3. Go to Settings then select Remote Data Access Settings.
  4. Select Pause Live Sync.
  5. Make any required changes on the data.
  6. To unlock RDA, go to Settings then select Remote Data Access Settings.
  7. Deselect Pause Live Sync, then press OK.

NOTE: If you can't access these options, follow the section below to make the required changes as if without RDA, then delete the queue.dta file before restarting the data service.

 





I use Sage 50 Accounts without Remote Data Access 

Before you can make any changes to your data files, to protect the integrity of your data you must stop the Sage Accounts Data Service on the computer where the data is held, to prevent anyone accessing the data.

  1. Log all users out of Sage 50 Accounts.
    • Sage 50 Accounts v27 and above - to see who's currently logged in, go to Settings, select User Management, then Active Sessions
  2. On the computer where your data is held stop the data service:
  3. Go to the Start menu and select All programs.
  4. Select Sage Accounts and press Data Service Manager.
    TIP: You can also access the Data Service Manager with Sage 50 Accounts, click Tools then click Data Service Manager and click OK, if required, create a backup then close Sage 50 Accounts.

  5. Check that the correct Server name appears in the Server box, you can amend this if required. If you're unsure of your server name, contact your IT administrator.
  6. Select Connect then make sure all users have logged out of Sage Accounts. A list of still logged in users is shown at the bottom of the window.
  7. Select Stop Service.

    NOTE: You can start and stop the service like any Windows service using your operating system. To do this, press the Windows Key + R on your keyboard > enter Services.msc > right-click Sage 50 Accounts Service > Start, Stop or Restart as required.
  8. Make your required changes.
  9. Start the Sage Accounts Data Service on the computer where your data is held.
  10. On the computer where your data is held, go to the Start menu, select All programs.
  11. Select Sage Accounts then Data Service Manager.

    TIP: You can also access the Data Service Manager with Sage 50 Accounts. Click Tools > Data Service Manager > OK > If required, create a backup > close Sage 50 Accounts.

  12. Check that the correct Server name appears in the Server box, you can amend this if required > if you're unsure of your server name, contact your IT administrator.
  13. Select Connect then Start Service.
