Summary
Your Income Tax quarterly update in Sage Sole Trader shows zeros, or leaves out some expenses. Check the date on each transaction.
Description
Sage Sole Trader builds your quarterly update from transactions you mark as Completed. It then filters those transactions by date.
A transaction dated outside the update period stays out of your figures. This happens even when you complete it and categorise it correctly.
Resolution
Check the dates your quarter covers
Update periods run from 6 April, not from 1 January.
| Quarter | Period | Deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Quarter 1 | 6 April to 5 July 2026 | 7 August 2026 |
| Quarter 2 | 6 July to 5 October 2026 | 7 November 2026 |
| Quarter 3 | 6 October 2026 to 5 January 2027 | 7 February 2027 |
| Quarter 4 | 6 January to 5 April 2027 | 7 May 2027 |
If you chose calendar update periods with HMRC, your quarters end on 30 June, 30 September, 31 December, and 31 March instead.
