Manage personal transactions in your bank feed

Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

How to deal with personal income and outgoings in your Sage Sole Trader bank feed.

Description

Why personal transactions appear

Your bank feed imports every transaction from your connected bank account. If your bank includes business and personal transactions, both will show in your bank feed.

EXAMPLE:

Personal payments, such as subscriptions or money from friends.

There's no need to worry when personal spending appears. Categorise it correctly and Sage keeps it out of your business figures.

What to do

Categorise each personal transaction as non-business. This tells Sage to leave it out of your business figures. Sage doesn't report non-business transactions to HMRC.

Should you delete personal transactions?

Usually, no. A non-business category is the better choice. It keeps a complete record of your account, which HMRC expects. Delete a transaction only if it's a genuine error or a duplicate.
