The most common reason this error occurs is because your business type doesn't match the type of income you want to report.
- Check that your business type in Sage Sole Trader matches HMRC
- Make sure your National Insurance number is correct
Resolution
Change your National Insurance Number:
- Within the Find your business area, select the Enter your National Insurance number field and re-enter your NI number.
- Use the same number you used during HMRC sign-up. Cross-reference this with the HMRC website.
