Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

Revalue a foreign currency bank account in Sage Accounting to reflect exchange rate changes. It posts gains or losses to your reports for the selected date.

Description

Revaluation updates the base currency value of a foreign currency balance.

Do this monthly or quarterly when you need updated figures.

Sage Accounting posts the difference to your Exchange rate gains and losses ledger account. It shows on your Profit and Loss Report as an overhead.

Resolution

Revalue the bank account

  1. Go to Banking, then open the foreign currency bank account.
  2. Select the Revaluations tab.
  3. Select Revalue this bank account.
  4. Select the date you want to revalue on.
  5. Review the exchange rate and change it if you need to.
  6. Enter a reference for your records, for example, month-end revaluation.
  7. Select Revalue.

To delete a Revaluation, select the delete iconImage from the Revaluations tab.

NOTE:

A balance revalued can show a loss, depending on the prior rate.
