Compare your Sage bank balance to your actual bank balance

Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

How to compare your Sage Sole Trader bank balance to your real bank balance by reviewing the completed transactions that make up the total.

Description

Sage Sole Trader doesn't use a traditional bank reconciliation process.

Instead, your Sage bank balance updates as you review and complete transactions. To understand any difference, review the transactions included in the balance.

Resolution

  1. Go to Banking and select the bank account you want to check.
  2. Note the balance shown. This is your Sage bank balance.
  3. Open Transactions and select Completed.
  4. Select All filters and narrow the list, for example by Date range and Source, then choose the bank account.
  5. Select Apply to show the exact transactions included in the balance.
  6. Compare these transactions with your bank statement for the same period.

    TIP:

You can also use the Nominal activity report to compare against your bank statement.

  7. If the balances don’t match, open Transactions and select Draft.
  8. Use All filters to check for transactions you haven't reviewed yet.
  9. Add a category to any Draft transaction so it moves to Completed and updates the balance.

Once you mark all relevant transactions as Completed, your Sage bank balance should match your actual bank balance for the same period.
