Description

When MTD for Income Tax starts

MTD for Income Tax becomes mandatory based on your gross income from self-employment and property.

  • 6 April 2026 – Your income is more than £50,000
  • 6 April 2027 – Your income is more than £30,000
  • 6 April 2028 – Your income is more than £20,000

Quarterly update deadlines

Once you’re in MTD, you must send quarterly updates by:

  • 7 August
  • 7 November
  • 7 February
  • 7 May

End of year

Send an end-of-year declaration after the tax year ends.
