Sage X3 Office AddIn - Users forced to login each time they reopen an Excel spreadsheet

Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

This article details a problem when opening Excel spreadsheets that have been exported from a screen table within X3

Description

Sage X3 V12 2025 R1 (12.0.37)
Sage X3 Office AddIn 12.20.0.27

In Sage X3, when exporting data from a screen table to Excel, it is possible to reopen the document without needing to login each time.
However, if you use the ‘Convert to Range’ function (within the 'Table Design' section of the Ribbon), each time you try to reopen the spreadsheet, you will be prompted to login.

Recreation Steps

Development > Script Dictionary > Screens (GESAMK)
Select any screen, scroll down to the Fields section and perform an Excel Export of the ‘Field’ grid.

Open the Excel file in Windows Explorer – note that you are not prompted to login.
Close the file and reopen. You are still not prompted to login.

Now click on ‘Table Design’ in the Ribbon and then select ‘Convert to Range’

Close the file and save the changes.
Every time you open the file, you are prompted to login.

Resolution

A workaround to this issue is to simple close the login box and it will allow you to view the spreadsheet.

This issue is due to be fixed in Sage X3 2025 R2 (Patch 38)
