Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

Introducing Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax legislation changes in April 2026 in Sage 50 Accounts.

Description

We’re getting Sage 50 Accounts ready for MTD for Income Tax from April 2026.

Software

Sole traders can use this functionality in Sage 50 Accounts v33.1 and above. This includes all variants of Essentials, Standard, and Professional. Accountants can access it through Sage 50 Accounts Client Manager. It's available to UK subscription licence holders.

We’ll include this functionality in a future Sage 50 Accounts release, before the submission deadline, to support UK property landlords.

Visit our installation hub to upgrade your current version now.

Features

  • Sole traders can submit quarterly updates to HMRC directly from Sage 50 Accounts
  • Built-in quarterly update forms for easy review and submission
  • Integration with HMRC to retrieve obligations and submit updates using correct credentials
  • Full audit trail and reconciliation reports for clarity and accuracy
  • Income Tax category mapping, error handling, and submission tracking are included
  • Security and performance aligned with VAT submission standards

How it works

  • You record income as it's invoiced, not when you're paid
  • You'll submit quarterly updates for the current tax year
  • You'll only report one income source, which isn't from property
