New Stock Valuation by Period (PIT valuation) parameter STOVALPER set to No by default in Version 2024 R2

Summary

Customers who are using the PIT functionality must set STOVALPER to ‘Yes’ manually to be able to continue to using after the update in 2024.R2 (12.0.36). This article explains the change and what occurs if this is performed after movements in stock.

Cause

This change has been made to improve performance for systems that do not use the PIT functionality.

The Patch Installation Notes of Sage X3 2024 R2 (12.0.36) contain the following details regarding this change:

Setup > General parameters > Parameter values (ADPVAL)

We provide the option to activate the stock valuation by period (PIT valuation) at folder, legislation or Site level for anglo-saxons stock accounting.

A new parameter STOVALPER has been added in STO chapter and ACC group:

If set to ‘No’, no additional records are created and processed for stock valuation by period process (PIT)
If set to ‘Yes’, stock valuation by period process (PIT) is activated. We can set it to 'Yes' for anglo-saxons stock accounting only (parameter ACCDETSTK set to 'Yes')

Note: in all cases the parameter STOVALPER is set to ‘No’ by default

Resolution

Customers who are using the PIT functionality must set STO - ACC parameter STOVALPER to ‘Yes’ at the correct level (folder, legislation, site) for their business as part of the upgrade to Sage X3 2024 R2 (12.0.36)

This should be done prior to have any stock movements following the upgrade.

If any stock movements have occurred then the PIT tables will be updated with these movements the next time a stock journal is created for the site in FUNSTKACC.  If there are no new transactions picked up FUNSTKACC will not update the PIT tables.

Alternatively running FUNSYNPIT with the create beginning balance records field unticked will also add the data added since the upgrade.
