When launching Sage Accounts Production (SAP) you may receive the following error message: Please check your system configuration

Description

This article will give you resolution to resolve this error message. 

Resolution

The error will be resolved by increasing to 200 the MAXFILEHANDLE setting in the BDS, as follows:

  1. Close out of SAP.
  2. From the Start menu, go to the Control Panel.
  3. Search for BDE, click on BDE Administrator.
  4. Go to the Configuration tab and expand the configuration option.
  5. Then highlight System.
  6. Then INIT.
  7. Amend MAXFILEHANDLES to 200.
  8. Close BDE Administrator and save changes.
  9. Reboot the workstation.

 CAUTION: If the application hangs whilst trying to save the changes, it is usually caused by administrator rights.
