Sometimes when you select Help then About, your software version number is different to the licenced version number.
This doesn't affect the legislation in your software, and calculations remain correct based on the Version Number in the Program Details section.
However, to access all the features and modules that your licence includes, you must have the correct licence details entered in your software.
The licenced version number is based on the serial number and activation key in your software. This controls which features and modules you can access.
The program version number, listed under the Program Details heading, is based on the software update you've installed most recently.
This is the version number that affects the legislation in your software.
You can update your licenced version number easily by updating the licence in your software.
First, you need to note your latest activation details. This is your account number, serial number, and activation key.
If you don't have these to hand, get them using our find my serial number and activation key tool, then follow the steps below.
Click Tools, then Upgrade Program. A window opens with the activation details that are currently in use in your software.
If the details in your software are already up to date, you don't need to change anything. Instead, click Update and your software retrieves the latest licence information.
