How and when you can change your HMRC reporting frequency in Sage Payroll.
When you set up your payroll for reporting to HMRC, you must select a reporting frequency. This is how often you submit your Employer Payment Summary (EPS) and when HMRC expect you to pay your liability. It can be either on a monthly or quarterly basis.
Once you process a pay run, it locks the reporting frequency. You can't change this again until the following tax year.
NOTE:
The HMRC reporting frequency doesn't relate to your pay cycles and your Full Payment Submission (FPS).
When you can change
You can only change the Reporting Frequency once you have:
- Completed all pay runs
- Submitted all Full Payment Submissions (FPS)
- Submitted all Employer Payment Summaries (EPS) for the current tax year
Complete your entire year-end before changing your HMRC Reporting Frequency.
Change the Reporting Frequency before you complete any pay runs in the new tax year.
How to change
- Select Settings from the menu bar.
- Select Payroll Settings.
- Select HMRC reporting frequency. Choose whether you pay HMRC monthly or quarterly, as appropriate. For any further guidance, contact HMRC’s payment enquiry helpline at gov.uk.
NOTE:
This option will only be available after you've completed your Year End.
