Delete a VAT Return

How to delete a VAT Return in Sage Accounting.

Description

You can only delete a VAT Return when it's a draft (not submitted to HMRC) or when your VAT submission has failed.

Resolution

Submitted VAT Return manually by mistake?

This can happen if you register for Making TAX Digital (MTD), and select Submit to HMRC by other means by mistake.

To resolve this, you’ll need to resubmit the VAT Return.

Delete a draft VAT Return

  1. From Reports, select VAT returns.
  2. Select Deletenext to the return you want to delete.
  3. When prompted, select Yes.
