Summary

How to run and use the Audit Trail report in Sage Accounting. This helps you track, review, and check all transactions for accuracy.

Description

The Audit Trail report shows a full record of all transactions. It includes the date, type, category, value, and who created the entry.

You can use it to:

  • Trace transactions
  • Review changes, including deleted entries

    NOTE:

    Edited and deleted entries can show with a strikethrough them

  • Support audits or checks

You can view the report as a summary or a detailed breakdown. The detailed view shows the full double-entry for each transaction.

Resolution

  1. From the Reports dropdown menu, select All reports.
  2. In Detailed Reports, select Audit Trail.
  3. If needed, switch between Summary or Detailed.
  4. To find a transaction, enter an amount or reference in the search box.
  5. From Period, select the required date range, or choose Custom to enter your own dates.

    TIP:

    To choose which columns to display, select the cog icon, make your changes, then select Save.

  6. Select More, then choose filters:
    • Type to filter by transaction type
    • Status to include, exclude, or show deleted transactions
  7. Select Calculate.
  8. To view a transaction, select the relevant line. Use this to review, edit, or manage the transaction.
  9. To export the report, select Export, then choose CSV or PDF.
