Switching to Sage 50 Accounts FAQs

Summary

In this guide, we answer the most common questions about starting fresh in Sage 50 Accounts.

Answers

Can I start inputting information in Sage 50 Accounts before year end?

Yes, you can switch to Sage 50 Accounts before you've complete the year end process.

Can I make adjustments to opening balances on Sage after the switch?

Yes, all you'll need to do is enter a journal to update the balances in Sage 50 Accounts.

I'd like to migrate, but I have a couple of thousand customers, but many of them have not been used in years. Is there a quick way for them to delete the ones I don't need?

You can mark all the customers that you no longer deal with as inactive within TASbooks, option 211 Maintain Customers as Inactive YES. Then when you export you can exclude inactive customers.

I don't want customers to retain the same codes, how can I set up customers with new codes?

You can amend the customer codes on the exported list of customers before importing them into Sage 50 Accounts.

I have many unused and duplicate nominal codes, do I have to delete these?

In the switch to Sage 50 Accounts, you don't take your nominal codes, therefore you'd have to add any new codes to the Sage 50 Accounts Chart of Accounts.
