Summary

This article covers the Demonstration Data in Sage 50 Payroll.

Description

It's useful to see exactly what a feature does before you use it in your live company. That's why Sage 50 Payroll has a demo company called Stationery & Computer Mart UK where you can try out features and practice tasks without affecting your live data.

Resolution

NOTE: You can't backup and restore data from the Demonstration Data to your company data, or from your company data to your Demonstration Data.

Your company data

This is your live company accounts. Any transactions you post here affect your day to day accounts and reports.

Demonstration Data

The Demonstration Data is an example company called Stationery & Computer Mart UK, complete with employee records and processing history, so you can explore the capabilities of your software. Demonstration Data is independent of your live accounts, so anything that you try in here doesn't affect your live data.

To open the demonstration data, in Sage 50 Payroll:

  1. Click File, then click Open Company
  2. Click Demonstration Data then click OK.
  3. To login, enter Manager as the logon name and leave the password blank.

You can then try processing anything in here. For example, you may want to have a go at processing maternity pay for the first time or setting up a new pension or holiday scheme.
