What is the recommended way to access Sage 50 Accounts remotely?

To access Sage 50 Accounts from remote locations, we recommend you use Remote Data Access.

Do we support other methods of remote access to Sage 50 Accounts?

Yes, but if you access Sage 50 Accounts remotely, you can experience one or more of the following:

Performance issues Sage 50 Accounts can run slower when you use it in a remote access or wide area network environment.
Integration with other Sage software To integrate with other Sage software, you must install the other software on the same computer as Sage 50 Accounts. 

NOTE: If installing other Sage software on the server computer, you must ensure that you have a licence for this.

Integration with Microsoft Office To integrate with Microsoft Office, you must install Microsoft Office on the same computer as Sage 50 Accounts.  You can’t integrate Sage 50 Accounts on the remote computer with Microsoft Office on the local computer.
E-banking To use e-banking, you must install the banking software to connect with the bank services on the same computer as Sage 50 Accounts.
Website links and email services You can create an email to an email address you enter in the program or to open a website you enter in the software. If you want to use these options, you must have an email service and internet access configured on the same computer as Sage 50 Accounts.

  • Sage 50 Accounts installation on Terminal Server and other Microsoft Windows operating systems detailed in the system requirements.
  • All Sage 50 Accounts functionality, other than those listed in the previous section.

We can't assist with the following:

  • Sage 50 Accounts speed or performance.
  • Set up and configuration of remote access and network environment.
  • Hardware configuration and setup.
  • Set up, configuration and use of third-party programs.
  • Remote access or wide area network connectivity.
  • Printing issues that are specific to a remote access or wide area network environment.
  • Creation and maintenance of operating system user accounts and associated permissions. For example, issues that aren't present when an administrator uses Sage 50 Accounts can be down to user permissions. A system specialist must resolve this.

Do you need a new software licence agreement to use the program remotely?

No, the current Licence Agreement allows you to run Sage 50 Accounts remotely.

Can you run a single user copy of Sage 50 Accounts remotely?

Yes, however, only one person can use Sage 50 Accounts at any one time.

Can you run a multi-user version of Sage 50 Accounts remotely?

Yes. However, you can’t have more than the number of users your licence allows, including the remote user, in the program at the same time.
