Enter a new activation key

This article explains how to manually enter your activation key within Sage 50 Payroll.

When you first install Sage 50 Payroll, you will be asked to enter your account number, serial number and activation key. After installing an update to your software, the program will check your serial number and, if required, update your software licence. 

If your computer isn't connected to the internet when you install an update to Sage 50 Payroll, or if your network security prevents access to the Sage website, you may need to enter your activation key manually. 

You may also need to enter a new activation key if you upgrade your software licence, for example to be able to create more companies or have more employees within your software.

Check your version number

1. Click Help then click About.
2. Click Refresh.
3. Check the Licence Information section.

If you've installed the latest update and your Licenced version number or other licence information doesn't display what you've purchased, follow the steps below to enter your new activation key.

1. Visit https://my.sage.co.uk >
2. Enter your email address and password then click Sign in.
3. Click My account then click Products and Services.
4. Select your serial number then make a note of your activation key.

Enter your new activation key

1. Click Tools then click Upgrade Program.
2. In the New Key box, enter the activation key.
3. Click Update click OK.

NOTE: If you have a subscription licence, you do not need to enter a new activation key for your software as this information is retrieved automatically. As long as your serial number is correct, you can just click Update and the latest licence information will be retrieved.
