Summary
Description
When you click the star to the left of a report in Sage 50 Payroll, the report appears in your list of favourites.
If you click the star but when you next use your reports it's not in the favourites list, follow the steps below.
NOTE: Sometimes your software retains that you selected the star, but doesn't include the report in the list of favourites.
Resolution
Run as Administrator and check if this resolves the issue:
- Close Sage 50 Payroll.
- Right-click the Sage 50 Payroll icon on your desktop, then click Properties.
- Click the Compatibility tab.
- Select the Run this program as administrator check box.
- Then click OK.
- Double-click the Sage 50 Payroll desktop icon and log in to your company as normal.
You can now mark a report as a favourite and check if your software retains this change.
Issue persists
If the issue persists, your next step is to create a new Payroll.ini file.
NOTE: These steps will clear any existing favourites. Take note of any reports in your favourites before you complete the steps below, so that you can reinstate them afterwards.
- Click Help then About.
- Under the Program Details heading, click the link beneath Settings Directory.
- The Settings Directory folder opens. Without closing this folder, close Sage 50 Payroll.
- Locate the file named Payroll.ini.
- Right-click payroll.ini, and click Rename.
- Change the name to Payroll.iniold.
- Press Enter on your keyboard.
- When warned changing the file type can make the file unusable, click Yes.
Log in to your software as normal and test if you resolved the issue. Sage 50 Payroll automatically creates a new payroll.ini file when you log in.
