Can I keep my accounts in Excel or on paper under MTD?

This guide explains how you can keep your accounts in a spread sheets such as Excel or on paper, but still submit your data digitally using Making Tax Digital to HMRC.


This can be done either through suitable bridging software or an Application Programme Interface (API) enabled spreadsheet that can integrate directly with HMRC systems. However, you must not re-type the summary information into another software package.
