Submit a VAT Return using the Making Tax Digital (MTD) module

To submit using the MTD module, choose which application and company you're submitting for. If you have multiple Sage 50 versions installed, it may ask for the installed version.

1. Select your software in the drop-down box.
2. Highlight the correct company then select Choose Company.  NOTE: The system loads the list of companies from the company file.  

3. When prompted, enter your Sage 50 Accounts login details then click OK.

You can use any login details for the company that have their Level of Access set to include VAT return.

4. In the Select VAT Periods window, click the VAT period to submit, then click OK. 
    NOTE: Only the last 4 VAT Returns are available to submit. Delete any returns from Sage 50 Accounts no longer required.
   Select any further companies for Group VAT by repeating steps 2 to 4.

6. To submit a Group VAT return, all VAT Registration Numbers for each company must match. They must also have the same Start and End Dates.

Any that don't match will appear in yellow. 

5. Select Submit VAT return to proceed to the Government Gateway (GOV.UK).

Submit your VAT Return to HMRC

1. Check the company name and VAT Registration Number, then click Next.
2. In the GOV.UK login window, click Continue.
3. Enter your MTD user ID and password, select Sign in, then Continue.
4. Select a method to receive your access code, click Continue.
5. In Access Code, enter the code you received, then click Continue.
6. Click Continue then click Grant Authority.
7. Under Submit your period, in the drop-down click the period you require.
8. Click the confirmation check box then click Submit to HMRC.
9. When the successful submission window appears, click Close.

View submissions

If required, you can view any submissions in the module which includes the submission ID.
