Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

Unable to write details to the Windows event log is Sage 200.

Description

When trying to email reports or layouts from Sage 200 and, in some cases when trying to generate a test email in Sage Report Designer, you may be prompted with an error:

Unable to write the following details to the Windows event log.
The source was not found, but some of all event logs could not be searched. Inaccessible logs: [Windows Log].

Resolution

This error can appear when there is a problem emailing documents from Sage 200, however the Windows user does not have sufficient permission to be able to write to the Windows Event Log, so the precise error or problem cannot be displayed.

First of all, refer to the Compatibility checker for Sage 200 suite article, here, to confirm that the version of Microsoft Office being used is compatible with the version of Sage 200 currently being used.

Then, ensure the user has sufficient permission to the following registry entry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog

If you require support on checking or amending permissions to entries in the Windows Registry, please refer to your local IT support.
