Posting errors within my accounts

Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

Determine if an error regarding postings is due to rounding differences

Description

On the error report within your accounts you may experience errors relating to postings you have made. Most of the time, the errors appear when the program believes your figures do not agree.

If you experience an error then please read through what the error is suggesting to do. It will want you to check the codes within the error and ensure the postings you have made are correct.

If you are happy your postings are correct but the error still persists then this could be to do with rounding.

Resolution

To test whether your errors are being caused by rounding, you need to turn rounding off within the accounts.

To do this:

  1. Go to Rops and click on Presentation.
  2. Go to 'General settings for headings' and find the reference 'rnd'.  This should say 'select rounding level for reports'.
  3. Change this option to 'Exact'

Once you have done this please try and run your accounts to see if the error persists.

If the error has gone then you know it is a rounding issue. In this case you can now ignore the error on the error report and this will disappear when you finalize your accounts. If the error persists, you will now see the exact amount that is causing the problem and you will need to adjust your trial balance to suit.

CAUTION: Remember to set the ROP back to the original setting before finalising your accounts
