This guide explains how to back up and restore your data with Sage Corporation Tax.
Description
With Sage Corporation Tax you can easily back up or restore your entire database, or individual clients with just a few clicks.
- A full system backup will have the file extension .sctbackup
- An individual client backup will have the file extension .sctexport
Resolution
Backup your entire SCT database
- Make sure no other users are logged in to Sage Corporation Tax.
- Close out of all companies in your program.
- From the menu bar select File, Full system backup followed by Save
- The software will apply a file name with the date and time, but you can change it to suit your own needs
TIP: For versions earlier than Sage CT v2.1 select File, Backup followed by Save.
Restoring your database
Restoring a full system backup will overwrite any data currently held in Sage Corporation Tax
- Make sure no other users are logged in to Sage Corporation Tax.
- Close out of all companies in your program.
- From the menu bar, click File, Full System, Restore
TIP: For versions earlier than 2.1 select File, Restore, highlight the backup to be restored, then click Open.
Backup or export an individual company
- Open Sage Corporation Tax and enter your login details.
- From the menu bar, click File, Open Company.
- Highlight the company name that you wish to backup (don't open the company), then click Export. Click Save.
Restoring an individual company
- From the menu bar, click File, Import.
- Browse to the folder where your backup is stored.
- Elect the backup file you want to restore, then click Open.
- You will receive a confirmation message. Click Yes.
