Description

On downgrading from Sage 50 Accounts v23.2 to v23.1 the management reports, including the profit and loss and balance sheet reports, no longer work and generate the following error:

Sage.expressions.Line50.period.periodAggregate(system.string.system.int32, system.int32) is not defined

This article explains how to correctly downgrade to Sage Accounts 23.1 from 23.2 avoiding potential issues with reporting.

Resolution

To correct this issue there are installation and removal steps to complete, before following these steps, please ensure you are logged on as an Administrator.

Delete the contents of your Temporary folder and reinstall Sage 50 Accounts v23.2

  1. Hold down the Windows key Windows symbol and press R, in the Open box enter %temp% then click OK.
  2. Hold down Ctrl and press A, then press Delete and click Yes.
  3. Now reinstall Sage 50 Accounts v23.2, If required, the update is available here.

Uninstall Report Designer and Sage 50 Accounts v23

  1. Hold down the Windows key Windows symbol and press R, in the Open box enter %temp% then click OK.
  2. Open the SageAccounts folder, then open the V23Update2 folder.
  3. Right-click Sage50AccountsV23ReportDesigner.msi and click Uninstall and follow any on-screen prompts.
  4. Hold down the Windows key Windows symbol  and press R in the Open box type Control Panel then click Enter.
  5. Click Programs and Features, locate and right-click Sage 50 Accounts v23 then click Uninstall.

Delete the contents of the Sage Accounts Installation folder

  1. Browse to and open the Accounts installation folder. For a standard installation of the software the Accounts installation folder is located in C:\Program files (x86)\Sage\Accounts.
  2. Hold down Ctrl and press A, then press Delete and click Yes.

If you use Excel Integrated reporting

  1. Browse to the files shown in the table below, right-click and choose to rename.
  2. Rename the files by changing the file extensions from .dll or .xla to .old

Reinstall Sage 50 Accounts v23 and the v23.1 update

  1. Install Sage 50 Accounts v23 into a new directory. If you don't have an installable version of the software you can log into your Sage Account and download from there.

To specify a new installation directory, in the installation wizard choose the Advanced installation type.

  1. Delete the watermark.xml file that's held alongside the data folder, ACCDATA.

    To do this, open Sage Accounts then in the Select Company window select the required company and click Open Folder Location, then delete the watermark.xml file.

  2. Install the v23.1 update available here.
