The reports, layouts or print options don't work

Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

How to resolve issues with printing or opening reports and layouts in Sage 50 Accounts.

Description

If you're experiencing issues with report and layout buttons not displaying the report browser window as expected, this is usually due to a conflict with the resolution you're using and the report browser windows.

The options affected are any button that bring up the Report browser, for example Reports, Statements, Letters, Labels, Print in invoicing or orders etc.

Resolution

Screen resolution

To resolve the issue, you must set your screen resolution and dpi settings to the following:

  • Screen resolution - 1920 x 1080 or less
  • DPI settings - between 100 - 125dpi

Having your screen resolution set differently can affect not being able to maximise the software from the taskbar.

NOTE: We've also seen this happen when the display setting was set to 1920 x 1080. To resolve this, change the resolution to 800 x 600 then back again to 1920 x 1080.

For more information on changing your screen resolution, follow the steps on the Microsoft help guide. Read more >

Using a single monitor

  • Immediately after clicking Reports or Print, press the Windows Key + Up Arrow

This will maximise the Report browser window, allowing you to move the position on the screen. The Report browser window will remain in the new position.

Using multiple monitors

  1. Open your Windows Settings and click System then click Display.
  2. Under Multiple Displays, change the option from Extend to Duplicate.
  3. Open the Reports or Layouts browser again.
  4. Drag the report browser to a different location on the display.
  5. Revisit the Display settings and revert back from Duplicate to Extend.

The Report browser window will remain in the new position.
