Summary
Resolution
- On the navigation bar click Customers or Suppliers.
- Double-click the required record, then click the Defaults tab.
- On the Currency drop-down menu, select the required currency.
If you have posted transactions on the customer or supplier record
You can't change the currency of the account and the option will be greyed out. Instead, you must create a new customer or supplier record with the required currency, and transfer any outstanding transactions to the new account.
TIP: In Sage 50 Accounts, except for Essentials, to save time re-entering the account details you can duplicate the account. To do this, select the account in the customer list or supplier list then click Duplicate and enter the new account reference in the A/C box then click Save and Close. This doesn't copy any transactions to the new account.
To transfer any outstanding transactions
You must delete or credit them from the old account and post them to the new account.
For example, you've an invoice for $100 on a dollar customer but should be £100 on a sterling customer. You can delete the original invoice and enter it as a £100 invoice on the sterling account. However, if you're unable to delete the original invoice, you can post and allocate a credit note with the same details and then re-enter the invoice on the sterling account.
