How to download and install Microsoft .NET Framework 4

Summary

When you install your Sage software, the installer checks to make sure that your system is set up correctly to support the software. As part of this, if you don't have the required version of Microsoft .NET, this automatically installs. To ensure that your software installation runs as smoothly and quickly as possible, we recommend that you install Microsoft .NET as part of preparing to install your Sage software.

Resolution

To check if you've already installed Microsoft .NET Framework 4
  1. Windows key + R > enter appwiz.cpl > OK.

    A list of installed programs appears.

  2. Click Turn Windows features on or off.

      3. Check if the entries for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 are listed.

      4. If Microsoft .NET Framework 4 is installed, you don't need to take any further action.

If it's not installed, to download the update, continue to the next section.

To download Microsoft .NET Framework 4
  1. Click the following link:

    Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0

  2. Click Download.

    TIP: If a Microsoft recommends page appears, click No thanks and continue.


  3. From the File Download window, make a note of the file name, dotnetfx40_full_x86_x64.exe, then click Save.

  4. Browse to the required location for the file and click Save.

You've now successfully downloaded Microsoft .NET Framework 4. For instructions on how to install this, click the Install it tab.

To install Microsoft .NET Framework 4
  1. Locate and double-click the saved file, dotnetfx40_full_x86_x64.exe

  2. If a security warning window appears, to run the file, click Run.

  3. From the Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Setup window, select the I have read and accept the license terms check box, then click Install.

    NOTE: The installation may take several minutes to complete.

  4. When the installation completes, to close the installer click Finish.

  5. If you're prompted to restart the computer, close any other software then click Restart Now. Alternatively, to wait until later, click Restart Later.

You've now successfully installed Microsoft .NET Framework 4.
