Description
Sage 200 Professional 2011 and above only allows the import of Bill of Materials using XML files. You cannot import CSV files.
XML is necessary because it provides a level of sophistication that CSV does not, namely, the ability to create hierarchical Bills of Material structures (including operations, subcontracts, and resources) within one file. CSV files however are easier to create because they have a flat structure, although a large number of columns and rows in several CSV files would be required to replicate the hierarchical structure that can be imported from one XML file.
NOTE: The documentation and sample files are bundled in a separate download called 'BOM/CSV File Converter Documents and Sample Files' which is below the BOM/CSV File Converter on the list of downloads.
Resolution
The 'BOM CSV XML Converter' can convert three simple CSV files (a header file, an operations file and a components file) into one XML file that you can then import into Sage 200 Professional, using the Import Bill of Materials option in Sage 200 Bill of Materials > Utilities > Import/Export.
The BOM/CSV File Converter is available to download for the currently supported versions of Sage 200 via the Sage 200 Professional and Sage 200 Standard - Additional resources and utilities article.
NOTE: The documentation and sample files are bundled in a separate download called 'BOM/CSV File Converter Documents and Sample Files' which is below the BOM/CSV File Converter on the list of downloads.
