How to create a credit note for an invoice that's already in your data in Sage 50 Accounts.
Use the Credit Invoice button to generate credit notes for existing invoices. You can generate credit notes for both updated and non-updated invoices
- Click Invoices and credits and select an Invoice to credit then click Credit invoice.
- Amend the credit note as required then click Save.
TIP: You can modify things like amounts, dates and references here, along with any other changes required.
The credit note appears in the Invoice List if you haven't posted the invoice to the ledgers. Now proceed to step 4.
If you haven't added the invoice to the ledgers, the following message appears:
'Do you want to update this credit note and allocate it to Invoice xx?' - To allocate the credit note to the invoice click Yes.
The following message appears:
'Credit Note xx (Transaction No xx) has been updated and allocated to Invoice yy (Transaction No yy)'
NOTE: If a Customer receipt is paying the invoice, the credit note updates but remains unallocated. - Click Close.
NOTE: When you update a product credit note, this also posts a Goods Returned (GR) transaction to move the stock back in.
Once created, you can print your credit note and update ledgers, so the values appear in your customer and nominal accounts.
