Font size too large and text is too big for the boxes

Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

What to do if the text in Sage 50 Accounts is too big for some of the boxes.

Description

If the font size is too large, it causes the text to appear too big for the boxes. You might also notice that certain check boxes don't show.

This happens when the operating system's font size in DPI is set too high.

Resolution

To resolve this, close your Sage software and any other software then check your display settings are set correctly. If you've checked your display settings but you still have the issue, you need to manually edit the registry.

Check your display settings

Windows 11

  1. Click Start and then Settings.
  2. Click Display, then ensure the screen resolution is at least 1024 x 768, then click Accessibility in the left navigation bar.
  3. Select Text size, adjust the size of text using the slider then click Apply.

Windows 10

  1. Start > Settings > System.
  2. Advanced display settings > Ensure the screen resolution is at least 1024 x 768 > Back.
  3. Change the size of text, apps and other items > 100 % Recommended > Apply.
  4. Sign out now > restart your computer.

Amend the registry

When you change your display settings, this also amends the registry of your computer. If your display settings are correct but you still have the issue, this means the registry hasn't changed automatically. To resolve the problem, you need to amend the registry manually.

TIP: This involves making changes to the Microsoft Windows registry. Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious, system-wide problems that may require a reinstall of the Microsoft Windows operating system to correct them. Sage can't guarantee that any problems resulting from the use of Registry Editor can be solved. If in any doubt, please refer to your IT Administrator.

  1. Close your Sage software.
  2. Windows key + R > type Regedit > OK.
  3. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows NT > CurrentVersion > Fonts.
  4. Find and amend the following fonts:

TIP: To rename the fonts, select the font in the list > right-click > modify. The keys to edit are listed in the Data column.

Font Name Value Name New Value Name
    Courier 10,12,15 COURF.FON COURE.FON

    MS Serif 8,10,12,14,18,24 SERIFF.FON SERIFE.FON
  5. Close the Registry Editor > restart your computer.
